Long ago,

Man would say

‘Crane birds don’t dance’

Laden heavied

In its great lake

filled to its beak

with pride

unbeknownst,

to the living legends

of neighboring

rivers, estuaries

and tides.

Travel

There lies ahead

on this road,

miles of savage reality.

And here I was

the one who mistook

the open roads

for freedom.

And here I was

the one who thought

words

moved people.

It is said

that at dawn

the dew rises

To paint the roads black.

 And by

evening’s slumber

the bloody revolution

would have

reimagined those back roads

once more.

Monastery

It had no danger,

It had no song,

     so be it in which

I find calm.

ye ‘Ole castle of stone walls,

      filled with the music

of a whimsical wrong,

        dine me tonight

from the hour for which

      the bell rings throng.

On from which,

the challenge befits -

       a burden of virtue

and rit.
